Bluebird Care customers across the UK are to receive a free personal alarm service to celebrate a new partnership with leading telecare technology provider Centra Pulse.

Bluebird Care, one of the UK’s leading providers of homecare and support, is offering customers a free 30 day trial of a device which will provide personal 24/7 emergency assistance at the touch of a button. Customers in areas of Essex, Nottingham, Kent, Suffolk, Somerset, Croydon, Dorset and Devon will be the first to take part in the pilot scheme.

At the end of the trial, customers can continue using the service for £3.50 per week. Bluebird Care’s trained care champions will be providing guidance on additional sensors such as fall, smoke and flood detectors and other telecare services such as GPS watches which provide enhanced support and reassurance for customers and their family and friends away from home.

Fiona Williams, director of operations of Bluebird Care, said:
We are excited to be partnering with Centra Pulse to enable our customers to live more independently for longer. This type of technology compliments personal care and support in the home. We can now provide our customers with a 24 hour service and be there for them whatever the situation.”

Wendy Darling, managing director at Centra Pulse, said:
We are delighted to be working with Bluebird Care to share the benefits of our personal alarm service. When technology is coupled with home care, it is often a great way to enable people to stay living independently at home for longer. Through our partnership with Bluebird Care we hope that many more people across the country will experience the benefit of this vital service.”
When customers activate the alarm, their local Bluebird Care office will be alerted by and given details of the reason for activation. If the customer has suffered a serious accident such as a fall, the Bluebird Care team will be available to offer customers and their families additional tailored support to suit individual circumstances.

Bluebird Care currently provides over 4.5 million care visits at home every year equating to over 12,500 care visits to over 6,300 customers each day. The new telecare offering in partnership with Centra Pulse is aimed to compliment Bluebird Care’s homecare and support services.
