Lincoln care assistant's inspiring story is featured in The Guardian

After Dennis suffered a stroke at the age of 44, his life changed and he wanted to help others the way others helped him. We were delighted to see his story covered by The Guardian.

When people first suggested a career in care to Dennis Atkinson, he laughed. However after suffering from a stroke at the age of 44, Dennis spent a long time in recovery and received care at home. He says:

"The transformative experience I went through at home, as I drove myself to get better and return to the confident, active version of myself, was what inspired me to become a care assistant."

Now a care assistant with Bluebird Care Lincoln, he adds "I am in the unique position to understand the benefits of homecare from both the care worker and patient’s perspective. Whether looking back at my own recovery or thinking about the many people I have helped as a care assistant, I am deeply moved by the transformations in happiness and wellbeing that have resulted from personalised homecare."
