Our new Managing Director Yvonne Hignell comments on the State of Care report 2018

Published: 24/10/2018

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Yvonne Hignell as our new Managing Director, and to share Yvonne's thoughts on the annual State of Care report.

We are firstly delighted to announce that Yvonne Highnell, previously Operations Director at Bluebird Care, has been appointed as our new Managing Director. Yvonne has been responsible for steering the company through changes in leadership over the past few months and is delighted to be able to continue to grow and develop the Bluebird Care brand, to help support our franchise network and to build a strong and profitable business.

Secondly, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published their annual State of Care report last week. The report is published each year and takes a closer look at the situation of health and social care across England. The report includes key trends, shares examples of best practice and identifies areas for improvement. At Bluebird Care we are always very interested in the findings of the report. Our new Managing Director Yvonne shares her views on this year’s publication:

“Bluebird Care is one of the largest franchised homecare provider networks in the UK and we have always put quality at the forefront of the services we provide to hundreds of thousands of older and vulnerable customers.  Over 95% of our businesses are rated as compliant, 5.5% are overall outstanding and 7% have been rated as having one outstanding feature.  This is a good place to start, however we are on a mission to provide the highest quality care possible.  The State of Health and Adult Social Care in England 2017/18 report by CQC points to inconsistencies in quality across the UK.  We have a duty as providers to ensure that our customers are confident they are receiving the very best care and support possible and that our teams are well prepared and supported to deliver in their roles.  We at Bluebird Care will continue on our journey to be the quality provider we always have been – putting customers and colleagues at the centre of everything we do.”
