Bluebird Care Wakefield begin distributing their ‘Squares for Care’ patch quilts.

Back in January we reported that Bluebird Care Wakefield began distributing their ‘Squares for Care’ patch quilts.

Over the last few months director of Bluebird Care Wakefield, Narinder Gill has engaged and led local community groups in creating these quilts. A number of local organisations have supported Bluebird Care Wakefield on this initiative, offering support as well as services in creating these quilts.

A number are still on display in the Wakefield libraries but they have also managed to donate these to the local hospital.

Over 50 of these handmade quilts are been passed onto patients living with dementia, these quilts have a range of textures, images and objects sewn into them which can provide interest and stimulation for those living with dementia.

The hospital encourage anyone who wants to, to get involved and any completed quilts can be sent to Anita Ruckledge, Ward 41, Pinderfields Hospital, Aberford Road, Wakefield WF1 4DG.
