Annual trip to the beach helps to combat loneliness

A group of our customers from both Bluebird Care Newbury and Kingsclere, enjoyed a fantastic day at the seaside in Milford-on-Sea last week.

Kim Teagle, Events Coordinator at Bluebird Care said “It’s great to be able to get people out and about to help with their wellbeing by encouraging more socialisation and helping to combat loneliness.  Our thanks go to the Needles CafĂ© where we had a fish & chip lunch right on the seafront and celebrated one of our customer’s birthdays with a cake whilst we were there.”  John, a Bluebird Care customer commented “It was a lovely surprise and a very kind thought”

Kim went on to say “It was a fantastic day with lots of fun and laughter and a real privilege to spend quality time with our customers who we normally only see when we provide care visits for them in their own homes.  It was especially lovely listening to their memories of growing up around the seaside”

“I don’t very often get out, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the day” said Paul Boswell, who added “I will definitely come again!”

Also pictured are Alfred and Pat who are cared for at home by Bluebird Care Live in Care Assistants Therese and Donai who both accompanied their customers on the day to the beach and shared a great experience, full of memories.

Bluebird Care’s programme of events includes monthly craft and cuppa sessions at their Kingsclere Care Hub, celebrating national initiatives such as Carers’ Week and organising Sunday Roast Lunches for Silver Sunday.
