Every year team members at Bluebird Care North Hampshire & West Berkshire, deliver wine and flowers to customers whose families care for them to celebrate the start of Carers Week.

With the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in many families taking on additional caring responsibilities for their loved ones, Bluebird Care North Hampshire & West Berkshire are especially keen to  recognise the vital support that these unpaid carers provide by distributing flowers and wine to all their customers who have family caring for them. Sending out a total of 46, the show of gratitude was warmly received by those who received the parcels.

The home care provider’s deliveries come at the start of Carers Week, an annual campaign that seeks to raise awareness and highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

The weeklong campaign also helps those who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access helpful support. And, this year, the focus of Carers Week, which is taking place between 7th – 13th June, is on ‘Making caring visible and valued’.

Speaking of their deliveries, Kim Teagle, Recruitment & Retention Manager at Bluebird Care North Hampshire & West Berkshire, said:

“Here at Bluebird Care we’re committed to supporting Carers Week. It is a valuable forum for raising awareness towards the difficulties that unpaid carers face, especially over this pandemic period”

“We salute them for making such a valuable contribution to their families. Although we visit lots of our customers on a daily basis, it’s important to recognise their main carer. This maybe a husband, wife, daughter or son and sometimes extended family. If we can bring a smile to their face and say thank you for the incredible job they do, a contribution that often goes unrecognised, it’s the least we can do.”

One customer who received a bottle of wine said:

“Thank you Bluebird Care. You have been an essential help to me and my wife.”

A daughter of a customer who also received one of the deliveries said:

“Thank you to all the lovely Bluebirds who look after mum so well, and give me so much reassurance when I am so far away from my mum.”
