Local Care Expert Celebrates Award Win

A local care expert is celebrating after having been recognised for her hard work, compassion, and dedication in an important care award.

Montana, who works for Bluebird Care Bromley, was chosen out of hundreds of nominees as the winner of the “Care Expert of the Year Award” for the South East Region at this year’s annual Bluebird Care Awards.

The awards saw over 600 people nominated nationwide, who had to be shortlisted down to 5 finalists in 8 regional categories.

Montana is part of a team who provides Homecare and Live- in care to vulnerable adults  across the Bromley borough to stay in the comfort of their own homes.

The Care Expert of the Year award goes to somebody truly outstanding, who goes above and beyond for customers and team mates – a real ‘all-rounder’ who personifies what care is all about.

Montana was named the worthy winner of this award accounting on her ability to support individuals suffering with advanced dementia. Montana engages with her clients, getting to know about their lives, understanding their likes and interests and finding ways to ensure they have as much fulfilment and joy in their lives as possible.

One of her clients listened to the same song on repeat daily. Montana used her initiative and started to add new songs to the mix, different genres of music daily alongside the song that was playing. Unbelievably the lady came alive with the sounds of all the music and started to dance. This became a daily activity, dancing! This in turn led to the lady becoming more mobile, active and able to engage in other activities outside her home.

Montana supports many customers with very challenging and complex care needs but she just takes it in her stride. She is a natural carer with a wonderfully calm disposition which puts people at ease. Being relatively new to the sector, her achievements are particularly worthy of recognition.

She celebrated the award with her team mates Sinead and Becky, who had been nominated for different awards at a celebratory lunch in London where everyone who was nominated came together to celebrate their contributions to care.

Montana will now progress to the grand finals of the Bluebird Care awards, in which the four regional winners will have the chance to win the overall 2care Expert of the Year” from Bluebird Care’s 10,000 strong workforce right across the UK. Her team will be cheering her on!

Bluebird Care Bromley is part of the national Bluebird Care network of 220 home care providers. From their office in Bromley Common they support 100’s of people across the local area each year to stay safe and well in the comfort of their own home.

Ben Davie, managing Director, said:

“Montana really impressed us with her stand out dedication, compassion, and patience. She is a credit to the care sector, and to Bluebird Care Bromley.

These awards are incredibly special for shining a light on the often ‘unsung heroes’ of our communities across the UK – who workday in, day out, to make the lives of others better.”

Reflecting on her award win, Montana said:

“I am delighted to have been named the winner of the Care Expert of the year award, and really grateful to my team for nominating me. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do at Bluebird Care, and so it’s lovely to know that you’ve got that support behind you. I’m looking forward to sharing the good news with our customers, who mean the world to me!”
