When August’s Care Assistant of the Month Daniela Alexandru found one of her customer’s injured on the floor after a fall, she calmly talked to him, finding out vital information for the ambulance team who took him to hospital.
When August’s Care Assistant of the Month Daniela Alexandru found one of her customer’s injured on the floor after a fall, she calmly talked to him, finding out vital information for the ambulance team who took him to hospital.Fortunately, Daniela’s customer is now fully recovered, and her calmness under pressure and positive feedback from the family helped her to win the Care Assistant of the Month Award for August.
Bluebird Care Director Anne Inglis said:
“We consider a number of factors when deciding on our Carer of the Month, but amongst the key factors are customer feedback, communication and calmness under pressure. Daniela dealt with a demanding situation and with the emergency services in an exemplary manner. Great work from Daniela, showing all her experience and skills. She’s also excellent at feeding back and communicating with the office. Daniela has been with us for almost 2 years and is now a very experienced and skilled care professional. This award is well deserved – well done.”
Originally a private assistant in her native Romania, Daniela came to work for Bluebird Care in November 2014 after being recommended by friend Roxie Firulete, now the company’s Care Mentor and Coach.
She said:
It was a bit of a risk taking the job as it meant moving to a different country, but it was a really good decision and I really enjoy helping others and making a difference to someone’s life. I was very pleased to win the award – it was a surprise and an honour.
I enjoy knowing that I am giving someone social contact as that is very important and it’s not so easy for some people to keep contact with the outside world. I love my job, there is something new to learn every day and I enjoy all the training.
You get to know your customers so well and I was pleased I could help when my customer had a fall. For me it is a great career. You can specialise in what you are interested in and earn a good salary at the same time. “
