Our Bluebird Care Assistants are at the very heart of everything we do, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible care and support.

In this article, we invite you to get to know Hayley, one of our amazing and dedicated Care Assistants, and learn more about her commitment to providing exceptional care!

Before starting her career in care, Hayley was a Manager in Sainsburys, alongside running her Hair and Beauty business which she still does today! Although her previous retail role dealt with customer service, “it wasn’t tailor made to the customer”, says Hayley and she much prefers, “making customers laugh and helping with everyday life, promoting their independence.”When Hayley was asked to describe care in 3 words, she chose, “fun, rewarding and educational” and we couldn’t agree more! Seeing your customers everyday, you build up an incredible relationship, sharing smiles and laughs together regularly. However, the challenges that come with a career in care are tough, making it extremely rewarding and educational when you’ve got through them.

Being a Care Assistant is a constant balancing act of looking after others and yourself, therefore making sure you take time to de-stress and relax outside of work is so important! Keeping our physical, mental and emotional health in check prevents fatigue, depression, anxiety and overall burnout. We asked Hayley how she likes to unwind and she said, “it depends on the day… a good book and a hot chocolate or a gin and lemonade and a film or series on tv.” That sounds amazing to us Hayley! If you have considered starting a career in care, Hayley has some incredible advice for you: “Just do it! It’s the best thing I did!” Ask lots of questions, no question is a stupid question. It’s one of the most rewarding jobs.” She also told us, “If you like talking to people and supporting people then it’s the job for you. It's not easy and every customer is different but you learn as you go.” Hayley also highlighted the importance of teamwork and that you should always, “utilise the office team and other carers because they are your team.”
