Make May Purple 2017

Make May Purple is an annual awareness month organised by the Stroke Association. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of stroke and the vital research that the Stroke Association carry out to support stroke survivors. According to the Stroke Association there are over 152,000 strokes each year, with it being the third biggest killer in the UK. Over 1 million people across the UK are rebuilding their lives’ after having a stroke, but supporters of Make May Purple will help the Stroke Association fund vital research into stroke care and treatment for stroke survivors. Communities are encouraged to show their support in any way they can for those who have been affected by a stroke, whether this is by wearing purple, having a bake sale or even holding an event.

Diabetes Awareness Week

Bluebird Care Cardiff South is supporting Diabetes Awareness Week 2016, an annual campaign led by Diabetes UK, from 12 – 18 June. Diabetes UK is the leading charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of every person affected by or at risk of diabetes. As well as being one of the largest funders of diabetes research in the UK, the charity provides information and support to help people with diabetes to manage their condition effectively. The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Setting the record straight’. Although around 4 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes in the UK, there are many myths and misconceptions about the condition.
