I’m often asked why I chose to open a homecare business so thought I would share with you my passion for providing the highest quality of homecare and support to people living in and around Gateshead.

I’m often asked why I chose to open a homecare business so thought I would share with you my passion for providing the highest quality of homecare and support to people living in and around Gateshead.

What made you decide to start your own business?

As a former solicitor in commercial law I often worked long hours seven days a week with very little self-fulfillment. The problem was the quality of life wasn’t there; I am ambitious but something was missing. I had always wanted to run my own business and when I met a Bluebird Care franchise owner based in South Tyneside I found his passion for homecare infectious. On reflection I was surprised about how excited and passionate I am about succeeding and I have seen what value I can create with this opportunity to run my own homecare and support business.

Why did you choose the homecare industry?

I did a lot of research into the homecare industry in Gateshead and it was clear to me that the increasing ageing population meant that there was a requirement to provide the very best care and support services to people that needed them. My research indicated that there are people that live in, or visit, the Gateshead area and who want to receive care and support services in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their own homes. Some would also like personal support to maintain and enjoy their independence and lifestyle outside of their home such as going out into their community, shopping or trusted support and companionship while on holiday.

I discovered that there are many people, not just an ageing population, who need homecare and support including adults, young adults and children. I have experienced seeking care for a family member and the poor standards in the area, so I know the importance to both customers and their loved ones of having access to a high- quality service they can trust. It’s that service and trust that I want to provide.

Why did you choose Bluebird Care?

It’s good to experience other people’s points of view about Bluebird Care – my new care manager has worked for other care providers and she is so impressed with the standard of the Bluebird Care business model and practices. For me, Bluebird Care and its reputation ticked all of the right boxes. It offered the opportunity to build a successful business that would be hugely rewarding to me because of the difference I could make to people who need help and support at home, and also to my team in having the opportunity to create the very best career development and job satisfaction for them. To do the very best for people is very important to me.
