Christmas Day at Jackson’s Lane has, for the past 40 years, provided a meeting place and warm meal for elderly and disabled people who would be alone otherwise at Christmas.

Held at the popular multi-arts venue in Highgate, north London, the one-day event includes a traditional, festive Christmas meal, a varied programme of entertainment and a Christmas gift.

Organised and run by volunteers, the Christmas Day extravaganza relies on the generous financial help of local businesses like Bluebird Care Haringey, who are supporting this year’s event.

Jyoti Kohli, Managing Director of Bluebird Care Haringey, said:

“With over 80 elderly residents attending, the coordinators of Christmas Day at Jackson’s Lane really do go out of their way to provide a welcoming environment for those that would be lonely on this special day of the year otherwise.

One of our aims at Bluebird Care is to provide care and support to the more vulnerable members of society, such as the elderly and those with disabilities. And this is exactly the reason we are supporting this event.

So many people across Haringey would be lonely on Christmas Day otherwise.”

Bluebird Care Haringey is providing gift bags for all those attending, which will include food items, a calendar and hot water bottle amongst lots of smaller items.

Jyoti added: “We are looking for other businesses and organisations to take part as well. If any have any items they’d like to donate please get in touch.”
