We are loving our new Dignity Tree which is standing proud in our staff room. We are encouraging all our staff, visitors and customers to fill in a leaf and tell us what Dignity means to them.

We are loving our new Dignity Tree which is standing proud in our staff room. We are encouraging all our staff, visitors and customers to fill in a leaf and tell us what Dignity means to them.

At Bluebird Care Haringey we encourage all of our carers to sign up to the 10 step Dignity Pledge in order to become Dignity in Care Champions. The challenge describes values and actions that high quality services that respect people's dignity should encompass.
  • Have a zero tolerance of all forms of abuse
  • Support people with the same respect you would want for yourself or a member of your family
  • Treat each person as an individual by offering a personalized service
  • Enable people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control
  • Listen and support people to express their needs and wants
  • Respect people's right to privacy
  • Ensure people feel able to complain without fear of retribution
  • Engage with family members and carers as care partners
  • Assist people to maintain confidence and positive self-esteem
  • Act to alleviate people's loneliness and isolation

The Dignity Tree

I'm planting my first seed today
The seed of dignity
In time you'll see my seed will grow
And grow into a tree
A tree fulfilled with knowledge
A plant for all to see
What being a dignity champion
Really means to me
It's a leaf with an idea on
It's an idea I'd like to share
It's an inspirational idea
It's a leaf to show I care
The tree will always be there
Long after I have gone
To stand up for dignity in care
A challenge to be won
I know you will support me
And I know you'll love the tree
It's not just a tree you know
It's what dignity means to me
