NEWS RELEASE: November 2024
Bluebird Care says “look after yourself” during Self-Care Week
Bluebird Care Highgate & Haringey is supporting this year’s Self Care Week which runs from 18th – 24th November and is organised by the Self Care Forum.
The Self Care Forum is a UK-based organisation formed in 2011, with the aim of embedding self-care into everyday life. With people living longer, more needs to be done to support individuals across the local community in looking after their own health as well as reducing the pressures on local health services. The Self Care Forum offers support to individuals in taking better care of their health and is a resource to NHS organisations, local authorities and those within the voluntary sector.
Self-Care Week is an annual awareness week to encourage support for self-care across communities, with this year’s theme focusing on “Mind and Body”. The week-long event aims to engage and empower individuals to take care of themselves and in turn improve their understanding of self-care for life.
The Self Care Forum encourages individuals to:
- Take Vitamin D supplements, especially during the colder weather
- Support mental wellbeing by being connected
- Regularly exercise
- Practice good nutrition
- Understand how to manage health conditions
- Support health education in the community and schools
- Make positive lifestyle choices
George Morris, Director of Bluebird Care Highgate & Haringey, said:
“We are delighted to be supporting Self Care Week and we are encouraging our local community to keep fit and stay healthy. By empowering and engaging individuals to take good care of themselves, we hope to increase understanding of self care in our local area, as well as ease pressures on our local health services.”
