Giving Flexibility For Working Mums - Ayshah's Story

One great benefit for those working in homecare is the flexibility that it gives and we are delighted to introduce you to Care Assistant Ayshah, who celebrates one year of employment next month. The hours that Ayshah works fit around her children going to school and the flexibility which they bring help her balance the demands of working and looking after children.
One great benefit for those working in homecare is the flexibility that it gives and we are delighted to introduce you to Care Assistant Ayshah, who celebrates one year of employment next month.Ayshah has recently completed her Care Certificate and we are delighted that Cllr Samia Chaudhary, Mayor of Hounslow, presented her certificate and a lovely bunch of flowers!
The hours that Ayshah works fit around her children going to school and the flexibility which they bring help her balance the demands of working and looking after children.
We recently spent some time with Ayshah, who explained:
Before working for Bluebird Care, I worked at a pharmacy as a Dispensing Assistant for three years and then took a year of maternity leave after the birth of my child.
The team here at Bluebird Care Hounslow & Chiswick are very supportive and the hours that I work fit very well around my responsibilities as a mother. Even with things like sports day and any changes I need to make, the team are very accommodating which is so helpful.
I generally start at 9:15am and support customers with a range of activities including morning personal care, shopping, companionship, helping with lunch and much more!
The role certainly keeps me busy and gives me the chance to see lots of different people each day. It also gives me a real sense of belonging.
There are so many moments that make you smile when you go home at the end of the day. My most memorable recent moment was when I visited a customer who I support with shopping on a Tuesday. Every time that I arrive at her house, the customer's face lights up and I see such a change in her!
My biggest tip to someone considering a career in homecare is to just go for it if you want to do it! I would particularly say for working mothers to build their career with Bluebird Care as the flexibility is there to effectively balance work and responsibilities with children!
