As we start 2019, we wanted to do something a little different and are proud to be able to introduce you to some of the team here over the next couple of months!

In the first instalment, we introduce you to Community Care Supervisor Marina who explains a little more about her role. We recently spent some time with Marina to find out more:

Q: Why do you work in care?

There are a lot of different reasons, but predominately the reason that I wanted to work in care was because I thought that it would be something good to give back to society.

I saw how Marie Curie nurses actually took care of my grandmother when she was very ill and near to her last days. I was only very young then and was wanting to help, but my grandmother wasn't allowing me to.

Then years later, as a mother myself and when my children went to school I wanted to leave the industry I was working in which was as a Publican and I then applied for a job with a care provider and fell instantly in love with the role!

Q: What was your first job in care?

When I first started care, I worked for a couple of different providers within Hounslow, Hillingdon and also Kingston. I was a domiciliary Care Assistant, travelling from customer to customer.

When I joined Bluebird Care two years ago I was a Domiciliary Care Assistant and have now progressed within the career pathway to the position of Community Care Supervisor.

Q: What was your first day like?

On my first day, I was so eager to get out and do the job to the best of my abilities that it went so smoothly I could not complain.

It was just lovely getting out, meeting the customers and getting to know them!

Q: What tip would you give?

My tip for anyone wanting to start a career in care is not to be put off by any negative things that you may read in the press or on social media.

You can give the best of your ability to the job and the customers who need you the most!
Everyone who joins our team receives a comprehensive induction, shadowing and support throughout their career. To find out more and apply for a role, please phone 020 8289 2349 or email hounslowandchiswick@bluebirdcare.co.uk.
