We are proud to announce the successful applicant for our second Community Grant of 2019 being a local community coffee morning!

Leybourne Parish Council has received a £250 community grant to go to fund free coffee mornings for elderly residents in the Leybourne community and surrounding areas.

We are incredibly grateful to Bluebird Care Maidstone for this generous grant, which will be used to provide a friendly and relaxed place for older people to socialise. The coffee mornings will help to relieve loneliness by providing a meeting point for older people in the community and a place where they can get together to catch up with friends or meet new people for a chat. We will also use the opportunity to signpost the services that are available to the elderly, to enable those who need additional assistance to access the support they require.

Bob Ulph, Chairman at Leybourne Parish Council

Our Community Grant Scheme has been running for the past four years and supports local causes through the provision of a £250 grant to a different group three times a year.

Bluebird Care supports a number of community organisations each year, and we are delighted to provide this grant to Leybourne Parish Council. As a home care provider, we are acutely aware of the harmful effects of loneliness. Groups and activities that foster community and help older people to socialise can play an important role in reducing social isolation.
