Lace up your boots…Memory Walk is back!

Published: 20/07/2021

Following on from ‘Freedom Day’ we are all looking forward to the prospect of life getting back to some semblance of normality.

The impact of the pandemic and subsequent lockdown, however, will be felt for years to come.

This is especially true for charities such as Alzheimer’s Society, which has had to cope with a dramatic dip in its fundraising income due to cancelled events.

And this at a time when people affected by dementia need our support more than ever. Those with the condition have been the worst hit by the pandemic – one in four people who died from Covid also had dementia.

Last year, restrictions forced the cancellation of Alzheimer’s Society’s hugely popular, mass participation Memory Walks.

However, we are delighted to announce that this autumn, it will be possible again for people to attend such events and walk in memory of – or to pay tribute to – a loved one affected by dementia at 20 locations across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

By marching out in support of Alzheimer’s Society, walkers will raise crucial funds to help the charity reach more people through its vital services.

Our mass participations walks are incredibly uplifting events – and we will be following the latest advice to ensure those taking part have an enjoyable and, above all, safe experience.

Supporters can also opt to walk on their own, or with loved ones, in a location of their choosing throughout September.
