Care Assistant Jean has been shortlisted for the Stars of Social Care Awards 2024

Congratulations to Care Assistant Jean on being a finalist in the Stars of Social Care Awards! 🎉

Selected by a panel of expert judges, including the CEO of Care England, the winners will be announced at The Marriott Regents Park next month by host Josie Gibson.

Jean is an extraordinary carer who receives consistently fabulous feedback from every person she supports. One of her customers, Wendy, recently rang to tell her Customer Care Manager how fantastic Jean is and requested an extra visit in the week so she could garden with Jean. Gardening is not one of Jean’s strengths, but she is very happy to support Wendy in this endeavour as it is what she loves to do and sparks joy! She is willing to go the extra mile, doing absolutely anything to spread smiles amongst those she cares for. Jean also supports Wendy’s daughter who is in her 50’s.

She is described by our Training Manager Natasha as naturally caring, a superb listener and utterly charming. Natasha says, “Jean is a one-in-a-million carer. She has the X-factor. Everyone adores her. She walks into a room and makes everyone smile… she is that type of person. She makes you feel good about yourself. Jean looks after her customers with her whole heart. If every carer was like Jean, the world would be a better place.”

Jean has a string of compliments from customers and colleagues but recently received sterling feedback from Tamika, a Richmond borough occupational therapist, who said, “Jean is so helpful and an absolute pleasure to work with.”

She supported a gentleman called Mr T until his passing. He referred to her as “mother” not because she ensured he was clean, had eaten nutritious meals, taken his medication and his home was immaculate, but because she supported him with such genuine affection and love. His partner Frank said this of Jean’s support:

“Jean was so emphatic and enjoyed her job. It was a great relief to know that he was in such good hands. I can’t thank her enough. She did a great job… thanks a million.”
