On 25th October, Bluebird Care held a special Coffee Morning event, bringing together customers, carers, and Staffordshire Police to foster community connection and promote important safety and dementia awareness initiatives. The event focused on helping customers stay safe at home, especially as Halloween approaches, with tips from Staffordshire Police on how to handle unexpected visitors, including “trick-or-treaters.” This advice was invaluable for many attendees who often feel uneasy about opening their doors to strangers.
Alongside the safety discussions, the event included a Dementia Friends session. Attendees signed up to become Dementia Friends, part of a nationwide initiative to increase understanding and support for people living with dementia. Bluebird Care customers, family members and police officers alike learned about the unique challenges faced by those with dementia. The insight gained helped all attendees appreciate the significance of patience, clear communication, and compassion.
The highlight of the morning was Staffordshire Police’s enthusiastic participation; they too became Dementia Friends, showing their commitment to a deeper understanding of dementia-related challenges. This collaboration between Bluebird Care and Staffordshire Police is a shining example of how community partnerships can bring practical benefits and create a supportive environment for everyone involved.
This successful event underscores Bluebird Care’s dedication to promoting safety, inclusion, and understanding, setting a standard for meaningful community engagement.
