Presenting September's Community Grant to FACE

Faversham Assistance Centre (FACE) is based in Faversham, Kent. Our charity’s mission is to support elderly and disabled people who are financially challenged to live independently for longer.  We achieve this by providing practical services on a donation only basis.

Faversham Assistance Centre (FACE) has been running for over 30 years, established in 1987, as a vision from the Churches Together in Faversham (although we are a non-denominational charity).  FACE carry out garden maintenance and decorating jobs in people’s own homes.  The garden maintenance is completed through the spring, summer and autumn months and decorating during the winter months.

Providing these services FACE can give our clients the choice of independent living for longer and allow people to be more comfortable in their own homes. Many of our clients used to take pride in their garden and home and for various reasons are no longer able to carry out these tasks, often allowing gardens to become overgrown. The practical work we provide helps maintain areas of resident’s homes, allowing them access/use of these areas.

FACE currently have 130 people on our gardening list, who we visit on a regular basis to help maintain access to property and keep areas safe to use. The total number of people we support are split between Faversham and Sittingbourne.

For most of our clients we are their last resort because they have no family or friends locally that can offer this regular practical help. FACE is the only local charity offering this form of service on a donation only basis.

If you would like to discuss our services further please contact our Project Manager Georgina Todd on 01795 530011, our office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am - 2.30pm. Alternatively contact us via our email address favassistants@gmail.com or our website at www.facefaversham.co.uk
