At Bluebird Care Maidstone we understand the importance of community, and how giving a little can go a long way. That’s why, four times a year we present a £500 grant to a local charity.

This November, we presented it to Wouldham Breakfast Club.

The monthly breakfast club is held in Wouldham Parish Hall and aims to help combat loneliness, especially within older people as the coldness of winter approaches.

The breakfast club volunteers are well aware, not only of how many lonely people there are in winter, but also at how much more at-risk older people are in the cold weather.

They are hoping that the breakfast club will give more older people the opportunity to have a warm, filling meal, as well as socialising with to the others local to them.

Overly thrilled with the grant, The Breakfast Club volunteers have plans to use it for new breakfast equipment and crockery, which will ultimately allow for more members of the community to use the service.

Care Manager Zoe said:
Although Christmas and winter is the happiest time of year for so many, a lot of people also find it the loneliness.

This breakfast club is a positive step in the right direction and it is a great honour for Bluebird Care Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells to be involved in the project.
The breakfast club has so far run for two sessions on Sundays and is hoping to become a regular fixture of the Parish Hall.
