Winter WARMTH Advice
Bluebird Care are urging older people, their families, friends and neighbours need to think WARMTH this winter to help people and even save lives. As the weather starts to get colder, Bluebird Care area is sending out the strong message that cold weather is extremely serious and potentially life threatening - and is urging people to prepare for the winter with some simple steps to stay warm and safe.

Respite Support at Home
When planning a short respite break for family or friends caring for an elderly loved one, people often look to move the person receiving care into a Care Home, however this is not the only option. Particularly for those living with dementia, respite support at home can be a better option as it does not involve the upheaval of needing to move to a different environment. Ann Msichili, who works as an Occupational Therapist and recently joined one of our Dementia Friends sessions shared some of her thoughts with us about the benefits of having respite support at home.

Living Well With Dementia - Rose's Story
Something we teach in Dementia Friends sessions is that you can live well with dementia. It is also a fact that life does not end when dementia begins. Everyone has a story and although the dementia affects a person in various ways, their story is very important. We recently teamed up with Rose, who has been told she has the beginnings of dementia, to deliver a short presentation about her story. Her story was found to be very encouraging and we are delighted to share it here.
