A leading home care provider has been recognised for the high standards and quality of services they provide to people across the London Borough of Hillingdon.

Bluebird Care received an inspection from the Care Quality Commission last year reporting on all aspects of the service.

An extract of the report says:

“We asked people for their views on how they were supported and if the care workers treated them with respect and dignity. They gave us positive feedback.

Comments included, ‘The carers that come to me are very caring and treat me well,’ ‘The care here is very good and they really look after me,’ ‘So far I have received a very good service. I am most happy,’ ‘They treat me as a normal person,’ ‘It's just the little things they do, like the way they talk to me, ‘The carers knock on the door even though I have a key safe they can use’ and ‘The carers treat me very nicely.”

Providing care in the community throughout the whole of Hillingdon, Bluebird Care’s personal, tailor-made approach has proved to be a big hit with customers.  The business is owned and operated by Alvin Osei-Tutu - who is passionate about providing high quality care for local people.

Inspectors from the regulator visited the area to find out what services Bluebird Care was offering, and the impact these were having on people’s lives.

As well as the high quality provision of personal care, the report also highlights the positive work that has been done to include customers in the day-to-day decisions about the care they receive.

The report said:

“People were involved in the care being provided to them. They told us, ‘Everything is discussed with me and I can pick what I want,’ ‘I just tell them what I need and they do it for me’ and ‘I have had meetings with them a few times to discuss the things I want. Then they try to do it for me.’ A relative we spoke with confirmed that, ‘We created a care plan’ so that care workers would know how to support the person using the service. Care plans included information about people's preferences, individual choices and how they could maintain independence where they were able.”

Inspectors then went on to add:

“People told us the care workers were caring. Their comments included that the care workers were, ‘Always smiling and happy to be here’ and ‘They take good care of me.’ A relative told us, ‘We have never had any adverse problems. The ones we know, knows us really well.’ We saw a range of written compliments that the service had received. One relative commented, 'We had lovely carers who were always professional and treated (family members) with kindness and respect.'

The Care Quality Commission’s positive report allows the organisation to stand out from other providers of care across the London Borough of Hillingdon.

With the local office in Uxbridge, care is provided in Ruislip, Yiewsley, Eastcote, Ruislip Manor, Ickenham, Northwood, Uxbridge, West Drayton, Cavendish, Brunel and the surrounding areas.

Managing Director Alvin Osei-Tutu is delighted with the report. He said:

"We offer a professional service, and we judge ourselves daily by the standard of care we are actually delivering.

I’m delighted with this positive news from the CQC. We always felt confident we were providing a high quality standard of care, but it is encouraging to have that recognition from our national regulator.

To have received such a glowing report is credit to the hard work of our care workers who always go that extra mile to ensure the people we look after have everything they need.”
