The York team took part in the trek26 North York Moors for Alzheimer’s society to raise money and spread awareness for people affected by dementia.

The 26-mile route will start up at Abbey Farm Showfield with stunning views of the famous gothic Whitby Abbey. Both route offers stunning views of the coast and the moors, taking you through cobbled streets, fields, woodland, villages and lots of coastline.

You followed part of the old railway route from Whitby, walking along the well-maintained paths of The Cinder Track to the picturesque village, Robin Hood's Bay.

The 26 mile route continued further down the coast before heading back up via the Cleveland Way path.

On Saturday, the 25th of May, Hattie Jobson and I completed the 26-mile walk to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s, raising £250 in sponsorship. We both want to thank everyone who sponsored and supported us; we had an amazing day filled with some inspiring people.

Laura Ogley, Registered Manager at Bluebird Care York

Despite the exhausting and lengthy day, Laura and Hattie managed to finish the work with remarkable efficiency. Their dedication paid off as they successfully raised a substantial amount of money for a charity that holds a special place in the hearts of many of our carers and customers.

The achievement was not just a testament to their hard work but also a reflection of the collective support and enthusiasm from everyone involved. The charity, which provides crucial support and resources, will greatly benefit from their efforts, making the long hours and fatigue worthwhile. This event underscored the power of community and the impact of coming together for a cause that truly matters.
