Stephen’s early career began in the care sector, working with adults with learning difficulties and helping them live as independently as possible while being active in their communities. He also volunteered at a local play scheme supporting children with learning disabilities during the holidays, which sparked his passion for helping others get the most out of life.

In his mid-20s, Stephen shifted to the corporate world, taking on various managerial roles in search of new challenges. Although these positions provided valuable life and learning experiences, he soon realized that he wasn’t driven by the profit-focused goals of large corporations. This led Stephen to reassess what truly made him happy, and he found his answer in returning to the care sector.

Just before the pandemic, Stephen re-joined domiciliary care as a carer within his local community, a decision that felt like coming home. He loved the work, even on challenging days, knowing he was making a real difference in people’s lives. During the pandemic, Stephen’s dedication was further reinforced as care became a vital lifeline for many isolated individuals.

Driven by a passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care, Stephen progressed into a coordinator’s role, where he thrived in the challenges of working at a senior level and ensuring care standards and ethics were upheld. Over the past year, he has focused on end-of-life care to broaden his understanding and deepen his compassion for those relying on care.

Now, Stephen is excited to join Bluebird Care as a Customer Supervisor, drawn by the company’s strong reputation and shared commitment to person-centred care that prioritizes the welfare of individuals, perfectly aligning with his own values.
