Our Culture at Bluebird Care Newcastle
At Bluebird Care Newcastle, we’re more than just a care provider—we’re a community. Our culture is built around supporting our incredible team of Bluebirds, the heartbeat of our business. We believe that when our staff feel valued, empowered, and equipped, they can deliver the exceptional, compassionate care our customers deserve.
We take great pride in creating an environment where our Bluebirds can thrive. We provide the time, training, and support necessary for them to go above and beyond in their roles. Our focus is on ensuring that they have everything they need to make a real difference in the lives of our customers, from delivering safe and outstanding care to building genuine relationships with the people they support.
Our team of Bluebirds are the heartbeat of our business and we give them the time, support and training to go above and beyond.
We’re proud of what we’ve built, but we’re never complacent. We continually strive to enhance the care we deliver by investing in our people and improving our services. We only employ the best in the industry, ensuring that our Bluebirds are equipped to provide the highest standard of care, not just meeting but exceeding expectations.
Unlike many care companies, we truly invest in our team and pride ourselves on the support we give. In our recent annual staff survey, we scored 71 out of 100 on our Employee Satisfaction Index (ESI) indicating a highly satisfied workforce, and 9 out of 10 would recommend Bluebird Care as a great place to work!
Why We Call Them Bluebirds
Our care workers are much more than the traditional image of a carer. They are companions, listeners, and sometimes a shoulder to cry on. They bring joy, comfort, and companionship into the homes of our customers, ensuring they can stay in the places they love, surrounded by the memories they’ve created. This is why we refer to them as Bluebirds—because they are the lifeline that helps our customers live independently and with dignity.
As one customer beautifully put it:
All of the team were so caring to all of us and in particular Louise and Sarah who came to visit in their own time and very respectfully helped me and mam make dad comfortable on more than one occasion. I can honestly say that without the care and dedication of your staff it would not have been possible to fulfil dads wishes to allow him to be at home till the end.

Our Team
The Bluebird Care Newcastle team go above and beyond for our customers, to them it’s not just a job, they have a genuine passion for caring for people. All of our carers put the healthcare needs and wellbeing of our customers first. Understanding the individual needs of each customer and really getting to know the type of care they want and need is something we pride our self on and we do our upmost to ensure these are met. Our Bluebird’s have varied skills, qualities and experiences, this helps us to match our customers with the Bluebird which will be most compatible with them.
What It Means to Be a Bluebird
Being a Bluebird isn’t defined by just one quality—it’s a blend of many. It takes a caring heart, a positive attitude, resilience, and the ability to bring smiles. It also requires a deep understanding of the role and the skills needed to consistently deliver the highest level of care. Our team is diverse, bringing together a wide range of talents, qualities, and experiences.
For many, becoming a Bluebird isn’t just a job—it’s a lifelong career. We have team members who have been with us since we began over ten years ago. A career in care offers constant opportunities for growth and self-development, allowing you to continuously build and refine your skills.
Our team is wonderfully varied. You might be a full-time working mum who values the flexibility of shifts that allow you to take your children to school before a late shift or pick them up after an early one. Or perhaps you’re a part-time nursing student gaining practical experience while studying toward your qualifications. We also have those who have transitioned into care after previously looking after a loved one, realising it's a career they’re passionate about. The possibilities are endless.
However, all our Bluebirds share some key traits. They are self-motivated, well organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Above all, they have kind hearts and a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our customers and their families, providing peace of mind through the delivery of outstanding, person-centred care.
