In a bid to strengthen connections and encourage greater participation, Bluebird Care East Staffs and South Derbyshire are proud to announce the launch of the Bluebird Care Committee. This forward-thinking initiative aims to provide a platform for employees, customers, and their families to actively shape the future of the care service. By inviting input from all stakeholders, the Committee seeks to foster stronger relationships and ensure that every voice is heard and valued.

A Platform for Inclusion and Participation

The newly established Bluebird Care Committee offers an inclusive space for customers, staff, and family members to share their ideas, provide feedback, and contribute their experiences. The committee has been designed to provide a platform for meaningful engagement, enabling participants to influence decisions and contribute to the business from an “expert by experience” perspective. This initiative ensures that the future of Bluebird Care is shaped by those who understand it best—those who receive and deliver its services.

Focusing on Key Projects

The Committee will meet every 8 to 12 weeks, with flexibility for both in-person and virtual attendance. Each meeting will focus on specific projects aimed at enhancing different aspects of Bluebird Care’s operations.

The first project will focus on recruitment, where Committee members will:

  • Provide feedback on the current recruitment process and suggest improvements to ensure the business attracts the best talent.
  • Participate in interview panels, helping to ensure that new recruits are the right fit for the team or to care for their loved ones.

Future Projects to Promote Engagement

The Committee’s work won’t stop at recruitment. Future meetings will address a variety of topics aimed at continuous improvement and engagement, including:

  • Enhancing staff training programmes with customer and carer input.
  • Planning and organising events for customers and carers.
  • Developing initiatives such as ‘Thought of the Month’ to boost staff morale.
  • Gathering feedback from the community to identify areas for further improvement.

These projects will enable Committee members to directly influence the future direction of Bluebird Care, helping the organisation to uphold its commitment to providing high-quality care.

Strengthening Community Connections

The launch of this Committee marks a significant step for Bluebird Care East Staffs and South Derbyshire in building closer ties with the community. By creating this platform for collaboration, the organisation is ensuring that customers and carers have a direct say in shaping the care services they rely on.

Vicki Jones, Registered Manager at Bluebird Care, explained the importance of the new Committee:

The Bluebird Care Committee is a fantastic way to ensure that everyone involved in the care journey has the chance to contribute. It gives our customers a unique opportunity to be part of something meaningful. Listening to those who use and deliver our services is essential, as they provide the most valuable insights. Personally, I’m excited to see our customers empowered to use their own skills and help us grow stronger as a business, ensuring that we’re always focused on delivering the best possible care.

The Bluebird Care Committee is set to become a cornerstone of community engagement. By creating this platform for collaboration, Bluebird Care East Staffs and South Derbyshire are taking meaningful steps to adapt to the needs of their customers, carers, and the wider community. This innovative approach underscores the organisation’s dedication to delivering care that is truly informed by the people it serves.
