Skydiving Northumberland Care Worker Raises Hundreds of Pounds for Cancer Support

04/07/2024

A care expert from local home care provider Bluebird Care North Northumberland took a ‘leap of faith’ earlier this month in a sponsored sky dive, raising £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Anna Warchol jumped from 10,000 feet at a staggering free-fall speed of 120mph in order to raise the funds to support all those affected by cancer.

The cause is particularly close to Anna’s heart, as both her best friend and youngest brother are cancer survivors. What’s more, she supports people with cancer and other illnesses and conditions every day in her daily role as a home care expert in the local community.

The sky dive, which was Anna’s first, was a bold way of showing her support for all those who are affected by cancer, and contributing to the vital work that Macmillan do for people across Northumberland and the country.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides support services and carries out research for the 3 million people living with cancer in the UK. The funds raised by Anna through sponsorship from friends, family and her team mates at Bluebird Care North Northumberland will help them to deliver this work.

Reflecting on her jump, Anna shared:

"Those who don't jump will never fly. This experience was not just about the adrenaline rush, but also about making a difference. Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. It was fantastic! The support I received was overwhelming, and I'm already planning my next fundraising adventure. I'd love to do it again!"

Bluebird Care North Northumberland Directors, Julie and Angus McLellan, expressed their pride in Anna's accomplishment:

"We are incredibly proud of Anna for taking the leap of faith and completing her skydive. Her bravery and dedication to raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support are truly inspiring. Anna has shown that with determination and community support, we can achieve remarkable things. We can't wait to see what other creative fundraising ideas she has up her sleeve. She is an invaluable member of our team, and her efforts reflect the caring and compassionate spirit of Bluebird Care. We look forward to supporting her in future endeavours."
