Sarah Armstrong wins prestigious award

In a night of celebration and recognition, Sarah Armstrong from Bluebird Care Stevenage & North Herts was honoured with the Care Manager of the Year (Community) award at the prestigious Palliative Care & End of Life Awards.

The ceremony took place on Friday, 28th June 2024, at the Regents Park Marriott Hotel in London.

Hosted by television presenter Kate Garraway and Magic FM's Neev Spencer, the event celebrated the exceptional work of individuals and organisations in the palliative and end-of-life care sector.

Both Kate and Neev have personal experiences with caring for loved ones and they spoke from the heart about the importance of the carers' work.

Bluebird Care Stevenage & North Herts was also nominated for the Care Team Award, highlighting their commitment to providing outstanding care. However, it was Care Manager Sarah Armstrong who was recognised for her commitment to those she cares for and took home the award for Care Manager of the Year (Community).

Sarah said of her win: “This is an absolute honour and this award is also for my team.  I do a job that I love and to be recognised is a privilege and I will continue doing what I can to support the people that need me and their families and loved ones.”

Radio personality Neev Spencer said: “I can see how much it means to you, you are an incredible woman who has given up so much of your own family time, social time and your time to look after the people that you have cared for as they have left this world.”

Sarah has been with Bluebird Care Stevenage & North Herts since December 2012. Her dedication and unwavering commitment to supporting families and managing high-quality care for their loved ones were key factors in her recognition by the awards panel.

Director of Bluebird Care Stevenage & North Herts, Robert Treschi said: “Sarah really deserves this prestigious prize. She goes the extra mile and always ensures that the best possible care is provided to make people feel as comfortable and loved as possible.”

He continued: “She ensures family members have all necessary practical help and information as palliative care can be overwhelming. Overall, though it is the emotional support Sarah and the team provides that gets specific praise and appreciation from families going through these difficult times.”

The Palliative Care & End of Life Awards honour those who provide high-quality, person-centred care, ensuring people experience both a good life and a good death. These awards celebrate the accomplishments of the social care workforce and hospices, including services for older people, individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, volunteers, and suppliers of innovative products and services.
