Our Story

We believe care isn’t just important—it’s everything

Bluebird Care was founded in 2004 with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide high-quality care that allows people to remain in the comfort of their own homes. It began when Paul & Lisa Tarsey, inspired by the need for more flexible, personal care options, decided to move away from residential care services and create a home care model that truly put the customer at the centre. This model emphasised delivering dignified, respectful care tailored to individual needs, in a way that allowed people to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Our first Bluebird Care office was launched in Petersfield, Hampshire, offering domiciliary care services to individuals who required assistance with everyday activities, from personal care and household tasks to companionship and specialist care for conditions like dementia. The success of this approach soon led to the decision to expand our business using a franchise model, run by local owners who have the same passion for offering high standards of care in local communities across the UK.

Today, we operate more than 220 franchise offices across the UK and Ireland, making us one of the largest home care providers around. Each office is independently owned and operated, but all are united under the Bluebird Care brand and ethos: to provide exceptional care that is tailored to the needs of each individual customer.

Bluebird Care has expanded our range of services over time, offering not just short visits for personal care but also more comprehensive services such as live-in care and respite care. We have also become known for our ability to provide specialist care for people with complex health needs, including dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and mobility challenges, enabling individuals to stay at home rather than moving into residential care facilities.

What sets us apart is our focus on both the emotional and physical well-being of those we care for. Bluebird Care prioritises building strong relationships between customers and our Care Experts, ensuring that care is not just a routine task but a meaningful, supportive interaction that enhances the quality of life for everyone involved.

Another key to our success is our commitment to maintaining high standards through ongoing training and development for our people. We invest in comprehensive training for our Care Experts, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed to deliver care safely, effectively, and compassionately.

As Bluebird Care has grown, we have also remained committed to innovation in care delivery. This includes embracing new technologies to improve care monitoring, communication with families, and administrative efficiency, allowing more time to be spent on what really matters: the well-being of all of our customers.
