Tim is a customer of Bluebird Care West Berkshire and has been since November 2020 following one week’s Respite Live-in Care. Respite Care, in the home gave his wife Valerie, the chance to benefit from a well-deserved rest.

How did you discover Bluebird Care?

Initially I was looking for Live-in Respite Care but not having much luck in my local area, I was under terrific strain and felt like soon I wouldn’t be able to cope without some help. I spoke to the day centre that Tim was visiting and they recommended Bluebird Care.

Valerie’s long-term plan was to find a domiciliary care provider, but initially just wanted a week’s break where she could catch up on sleep, before she burnt out. Live-in Respite Care gave Valerie the freedom and the time to herself she so desperately needed, all the while knowing Tim was being well looked after.

How do you find the service?

Following on from a week of Live-in Respite Care, both myself and Tim were so pleased with the service that we decided Bluebird Care would be perfect to support me and care for Tim

Valerie and Tim decided to continue with Bluebird Care on a more longer-term basis with Tim having three visits a day. Tim’s care needs have since changed over time and therefore so has the care package with Bluebird Care.

We started out with a week of Respite Care, but my husband now requires care visits three times a day, it’s been a weight lifted off my shoulder's just knowing we can amend our current package with Bluebird Care.

How has Respite Care changed your wellbeing?

Thanks to Bluebird Care, I have arranged another Respite Live-in support package with the team so I can have another break later in the year. It gives me the chance to have time away, but I also know Tim is being well cared for whilst I recharge.

Our Respite Care service allows Valerie to see family, socialise and also have her own time away. Staying with Bluebird Care has meant Valerie has come to trust the team and has all the reassurance she needs to have time away. Plus, by using app’s like the PASS system and OpenPASS Valerie can still keep up to date with what care Tim is receiving each day and how he is doing, no matter where she is.
