Learning Disabilities care
Feel fulfilled with learning disabilities care
If there’s one thing we can all pretty much agree on, it’s that on some level we all want to find meaning in our life. We want to feel a sense of purpose. It’s just the nature of being human.
And people with learning disabilities are no different.
Which is why we’ve created a service designed around the specific needs of adults with learning disabilities. Because by helping your loved one become more independent, we can help them lead a life that feels genuinely fulfilling.
Expert Home Care for Adults with Learning Disabilities
If you look after someone with a learning disability, it can feel overwhelming at times. You probably don’t always know what to do or how to make your loved one feel at ease. And it’s not like there’s a simple guidebook you can follow to make everything alright.
Sound familiar? We can help. Our Care Experts are highly-trained and experienced in the kind of situations you’re going through right now. They’re also incredibly compassionate, so they can offer you and your loved one much-needed emotional support as well.
Everyone’s challenges are different, so the way we go about meeting them needs to be different too. Which is why we’ll work closely with you and your loved one to create a tailored support plan that’s based entirely around your needs.
That way, we can give your loved one the best chance to truly thrive.
What Learning Disabilities Care Looks Like
Whatever their needs are, we’ll provide your loved one with personalised, one-to-one care. That way, not only can we better meet those needs, but we can give your loved one greater choice over how they live their life on a day-to-day basis.
Which isn’t always easy in more structured care environments.
As you’d expect, we’ll spend most of our time with your loved one in their own home.
Being in a familiar setting, where they can be around friends and family as much as they like, helps them feel good about themselves. And more confident too, which makes a real difference to their well-being.
After all, Learning Disabilities Care isn’t just about physical support. It’s about emotional support and social development too. We want your loved one to see our Care Experts as a friend they can talk to about their hopes and worries. Someone they can have memorable experiences with, or even share the same interests as, like bird watching or Beethoven.
Someone with a big heart who’s always there for them, ensuring they get the most out of every moment.
Our Care Experts
Our Care Experts live and breathe the role, because the work they do is important to them. It has real purpose and meaning. But they have a lot more going for them than just compassion.
They also have plenty of practical experience in supporting people like your loved one with a wide range of complex care needs. And they’re fully trained too. So whether it’s a sensory impairment or an autistic spectrum disorder – or anything in between – they’ll be able to respond to your loved one in the best way possible.
What is a Learning Disability?
You might be wondering what a learning disability is. After all, they come in all shapes and sizes. Technically speaking, it means that someone has a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday tasks.
How much support they need completely depends on the person though.
For instance, if your loved one has a mild learning disability, they might only need support with specific things, such socialising with friends or finding a job. But if they have a more serious learning disability, it could mean they need full-time care.
Whatever you and your loved one are going through, you’re not alone. Right now, there are around 1.5 million people in the UK living with a learning disability. As difficult as it is for them, it’s also difficult for the family and friends who look after them. It can place a real strain on relationships and add a lot of stress to your life, whether it’s at work or even just seeing friends.
With the support of a dedicated Care Expert though, we can take a lot of that tension away. So, no matter how complicated things get, you and your loved one still have a chance to create a life that works for you.
Home Care that Adapts to Your Needs
Our Learning Disabilities Care is different for everyone. For some people, it means we pop by once or twice a week to say hello. For others, it means providing round-the-clock care. It all depends on what your loved one needs.
Whatever that might be, we’re here to empower your loved one. By focusing on their natural gifts and helping them to express themselves and interact with others, we’ll constantly encourage them to become more independent and enjoy a real sense of achievement.
What our Learning Disability Services Could Look Like
We want your loved one to live the life they want. To feel that each day is exciting and full of possibility. Which is why we offer a range of learning disability home care services, including:
- Day-to-day responsibilities – whether it’s going to work or staying on top of everyday tasks, we can help your loved one feel in control of their life.
- School and socialising – we can help them meet friends and family, go to school or college, visit their favourite café or introduce them to new hobbies.
- Staying healthy – it’s not just about seeing their doctor. It’s also about eating well and keeping in shape.
- Being independent – we can help with everything from grocery shopping to paying bills to working out why the Wi-Fi is down.
- Setting a daily routine – we can help your loved one set a daily routine, and then stick to it. Whether it’s ten minutes of meditation or flossing their teeth before bed, we can be right by their side.
- Household chores – we’re happy to help around the house, whether it’s vacuuming the carpet or tackling that growing pile of ironing.
