Companionship care

With companionship care, it’s good to make new friends

logoHome Care

Keeping in touch with friends is hard enough as it is. But if your Dad has a health issue or your mum doesn’t have quite the energy she once did, it becomes that bit more difficult. Which is where a lot of people find themselves as they grow older.

And this can have a big impact on their life. Because a lack of social contact can lead to stress, loneliness, sometimes even depression. And seeing your loved ones go through that can be really heartbreaking.

What is Companionship Care?

It’s basically an everyday companion for your loved one, so they can go about their life as they like, with a helping hand by their side and someone to talk to.

The companion in this case is one of our Care Experts. They’re there to make your loved one’s life as effortless as possible. Whether that’s changing the bedding or helping to hang a new photo of the grandchildren on the wall or even making a hot chocolate with that cream they like so much on top.

Of course, it’s more than that. It’s also about friendship. Our Care Experts have big hearts and they’re good listeners. They’ll want to know your loved one’s likes and dislikes, their stories of the past, their hopes for the future. They’ll want to enjoy a genuine human connection, just like your loved one.

What does Companionship Care include?

It’s really up to you. We’ll build the service around your loved one and their needs, helping them to live the life they want. But to give you an idea, here are some of the things it often includes:

  • Reminisce about the past
  • Help with shopping
  • Cooking up and sharing great food
  • Help with pursuing hobbies, whether it’s needlepoint at home or birdwatching at the local nature reserve
  • Support with everyday tasks around the house, like emptying the dishwasher or changing the lightbulb that just went out (again)
  • Helping your loved one get where they want to go, whether it’s a friend’s house or the community theatre
  • Someone to hold their hand on the way to the GP
  • Unexpected outings they’ll talk about for days

Better quality of life

No one thinks age should be a barrier to happiness. That’s why we’re here and why our Companionship Care has been designed in the way it has. So that your loved one can lead a genuinely enjoyable life from the comfort of their own home.
