Physical disabilities care

Live life independently with physical disabilities

logoComplex Care

There’s nothing that says that just because you have a disability, you can’t live a full and active life. And the same goes for your loved one.

Whether their disability is recent or something they’ve lived with for years, we’re here to help them live life on their own terms, in their own way. By tailoring our care to each person we look after, we can create a solution that fits whatever your loved one needs.

How it works

In some ways, our approach to Physical Disabilities Care is simple: we listen to you. We find out what you and your loved one need, and then we work together to come up with the best support plan possible.

You know your loved one better than anyone, and we know Home Care better than anyone. So when we bring the two together, great things can happen.

Whatever specific plan we develop together, your loved one will experience it in their own home rather than a residential setting. Because we believe that in order to have the best chance of living a full life, you need to feel safe and secure, and be surrounded by the people and places you love.

Tailored to you

Everyone’s situation is different. Some people have been disabled for years and want us to help them pursue a long-term goal, such as sailing across the Channel. Others though may have been recently diagnosed and need help coping with everyday life.

Whatever situation your family is in, your loved one will enjoy one-to-one support from our highly-trained Care Experts. People with big hearts and lots of compassion, who have practical experience of working with a wide range of complex care needs.

This might mean we stop by your house a couple of times a week to check how you’re doing, or that we provide 24/7 live-in Home Care. Ultimately, it all comes down to what you and your loved one need.

What is a Physical Disability?

When people talk about physical disabilities, they can mean different things. For us, a physical disability is a substantial, long-term condition that affects someone’s body, impairing or limiting their mobility, stamina or dexterity.

Each physical disability is unique. They don’t necessarily affect people in the same way or result in the same symptoms. Generally speaking though, if your loved one has a physical disability, it restricts how they’re able to move and makes things like walking, standing or controlling certain muscles much more challenging.

Helping your loved one flourish

Here at Bluebird Care, we look beyond your loved one’s disability. We see them for who they are. A person with their own life, their own hopes and aspirations, their own doubts and fears.

In fact, no matter who we’re looking after, we always start by focusing on their unique strengths and abilities. It gives us something positive to build on, and helps us focus on goals we can help them achieve.

Because for us, it not just about helping your loved one get on in life. It’s about seeing how good things can be.

A sample of our services

One thing you can be sure of is this: we’ll always do everything we can to help your loved one live a full and meaningful life. Whether it’s everyday activities or something a little more special, here are some of the ways we’ll help them conquer their disability:

  • Day-to-day responsibilities – whether it’s going to work or staying on top of everyday tasks, we can help your loved one feel in control of their life.
  • School and socialising – we can help them meet friends and family, go to school or college, visit their favourite café or introduce them to new hobbies.
  • Staying healthy – it’s not just about seeing their doctor. It’s also about eating well and keeping in shape.
  • Being independent – we can help with everything from grocery shopping to paying bills to working out why the Wi-Fi is down.
  • Setting a daily routine – we can help your loved one set a daily routine, and then stick to it. Whether it’s ten minutes of meditation or flossing their teeth before bed, we can be right by their side.
  • Household chores – we’re happy to help around the house, whether it’s vacuuming the carpet or tackling that growing pile of ironing.

Getting started

If you think Bluebird Care could be just what your loved one needs, or even if you’re not sure, we’d love to chat. That way we can learn about you and your loved one, and let you know how we can help.
