Care for children with additional needs

You need someone who understands your child's care needs and you can trust

We cover care for children with additional needs aged between 13 - 19 years across West and North Wiltshire.

logoChildren's Care

If you’re like most parents, you’d do pretty much anything for your child. So if your child needs extra care and support, you’ll bend over backwards to make sure they get the very best.

Experience you can trust. Expertise you can count on. A care service full of empathetic people who put you at ease.

That’s us. That’s Bluebird Care. Where we do everything we can to help children with special needs keep feeling special in their own home.

We also work in partnership with special need schools to ensure high quality and safe care for those pupils who have personal care requirements during their school day

Practical experience

Our Care Experts aren’t just well-trained. They’re also well-versed in handling almost any kind of situation your child might find themselves in. From challenging behaviour and autistic spectrum disorders, to physical disabilities and sensory impairment, they have the kind of practical experience that will give you confidence – and help your child live life the way they want.

From short-term to long-term

How long we support your child is completely up to you. If, for instance, you’re in hospital recovering from an illness, we can provide temporary care for your child while you get better.

Or if you’re completely fine but your child has a challenging condition and you need help looking after them, we can offer longer-term support as well.

There’s no minimum or maximum amount of time.

Home care tailored to your needs

Our care packages are designed around you. So if there’s something you or your child needs, we’ll go out of our way to make it happen. This could mean many things, including:

  • Helping your child get ready in the morning
  • Giving them one-to-one support at school
  • Hitting the sales with them for those must-have shoes
  • Going to a film with them or that new exhibition everyone’s talking about
  • Playing football or catch or similar outdoor activities with them
  • Giving them a hand with everyday personal care, such as bathing
  • Cooking up meals they’ll love to eat
  • Being by their side at the doctor’s
  • Hanging out at the house playing cards and other games
  • Getting them ready for bed and with a good bedtime story too (if they like!)
  • In general, helping them – and you – find a routine that works for everyone

Getting to know each other

Every child we look after is different. They all have their own likes. Their own dislikes. Their own special needs and how they feel about them.

So there’s no way we could have a one-size-fits-all approach.

Instead, before we start looking after you child, we’ll spend time getting to know them first. We’ll learn things like:

  • How they like to communicate
  • What their particular needs are
  • How you’d like us to meet those needs
  • What’s important to them

Once we’ve got a better idea of who they are, and they’ve got a good idea of who we are, we can start.

Matching your child with the right Care Experts

One of the first things we’ll do is one of the most important. We’ll look closely at all the people on our team, and pick the Care Experts we think would best suit your child. This isn’t just about their expertise either. It’s also about who they are, what their personality is and whether they have any of the same interests as your son or daughter.

The better match we make, the better off your child will be.

And just in case you were wondering, all of our Care Experts are rigorously vetted. So there’s one more worry off your mind, because nothing’s more important to us than your child’s safety and well-being.

Getting started

If you’ve heard enough to know that you want to hear more, feel free to get in touch with us. We’ll tell you about all the different ways we can support you and your child.
